West Midlands UKELA lunchtime seminar: exploring the path to net zero

Join us for a lunchtime seminar with West Midlands UKELA (online)

It was recently reported that   “A stable climate will only become achievable when net zero is not a press release but a business model”.

With only 12 years left to achieve the UK’s interim net zero target of 78% reduction in carbon (2035) with a zero target by 20250 our talk will consider the crucial role that businesses play in the UK being able to meet its net zero targets.  What are the advantages and disadvantages to business in achieving net zero and if the disadvantages to business outweigh the advantages how could it impact on the UK meeting its target of net zero by 2050?  The Paris Agreement established a global vision for a net zero economy in which warming is limited to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels but we are currently not on track to keep warming limited to1.5°C unless greenhouse gas emissions peak by 2025 and then fall by 43% by 2030.

Join us for this lunchtime webinar, presented by West Midlands UKELA. Our speakers will also consider what we can expect from the new  Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (“DESNZ”) who recently  announced it will be seizing the opportunities of net zero to lead the world in new green industries and will  ensure the UK is on track to meet its legally binding Net Zero commitments.
