Seminar on the Welsh Government's Consultation on Environmental Principles and Governance

Tuesday 14 May 2019 Blake Morgan Solicitors, 1 Central Square, Cardiff CF10 1FS
5.30 pm

Free

Organised by UKELA Wales

We warmly invite you to a seminar to find out more about this consultation and/or share your views.

We are keen to ensure that our response reflects the views of our wider membership and aim to engage in a discussion around the following issues:

  • Environmental Principles Where are the differences between UK/Wales principles for environmental protection and are we in agreement with the Welsh Government's analysis of the potential gaps? Is it sensible to apply the principles of Sustainable Natural Resource Management to all public bodies in Wales?

  • Environmental Governance What should the scope of a new environmental body be? Is a tribunal approach the best way forward? How will this fit with existing mechanisms in Wales, especially the Future Generations Commissioner? What powers should this new body have?

  • UK framework What measures should be introduced for collaborative/common decision making across the UK in the future?
