Next event

The 2019 AGM of the UKELA North East Group will be held on Monday 23rd September 2019 at Walker Morris’s shiny new office at 33 Wellington Street, Leeds, LS1 4DL (thanks to Alison Ogley for your support in hosting). The AGM will begin at 5pm and will last up to one hour max.

At the AGM we will cover the creation of a new NE focused regional group (the region covers a broad geographic spread with key the major centres of Leeds, Sheffield and Newcastle incorporated within it) and also discuss the future activities of the UKELA North East Group. It would be great to see as many UKELA members attend as possible in order to gather interest, enthusiasm and hopefully to confirm new members to the group to take the NE Region into 2020 with a clear direction.

Please confirm your attendance by email, we look forward to meeting you on the 23rd September.

Theme: Enforcement Undertakings and Sentencing Guidelines - held in conjunction with the North East Regulatory Lawyers (NERL).

Speakers: Environment Agency, New Park Court Chambers

We had two great speakers lined up. Firstly a representative from the Environment Agency discussed enforcement undertakings, their experiences of them and some tips as to best practice. In addition, Counsel, Nick de la Poer from New Park Court Chambers analysed the scope and effect of the current sentencing guidelines in environmental cases, examining a number of recent cases and focussing on lessons to be learned.
