Professional Support Lawyer - Environment lawyer

An opportunity for a talented Environment lawyer to join our Lexis®PSL Environment team. The emphasis of the role will be on developing and delivering legal practical guidance, current awareness and online solutions in this area.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

· Deliver core content (ie legal practical guidance including practice notes, precedents and checklists) for environment legal practitioners based on customer need

· Develop new content and maintain existing content to a high standard technically and editorially

· Assist with delivering our current awareness offering, including liaising with the Environment Current Awareness PSL and central current awareness team in relation to news coverage, commissioning and reviewing external analysis, reviewing weekly highlights, and drafting news analysis where appropriate

· Assist with customer queries and responding to feedback

· Meet with customers as appropriate to receive feedback and to keep up to date with their needs

· Contribute ideas for new content, multimedia and tools

· Support the sales and marketing function in taking Lexis®PSL to market by visiting and engaging with customers to raise the profile of Lexis®PSL Environment

· Maintain and develop own knowledge base and expertise ensuring that ‘being the expert our customers would pay to spend time with’ comes to life

· Network and collaborate externally and with the wider business to share and access existing content and to identify new business opportunities/thought leadership

Experience and skills required

Person Specification

· UK qualified lawyer

· Evidence that continuing professional development is pursued

· Comprehensive current knowledge of environmental law and regulation

· Good understanding of the environmental legal community

· Minimum 5 years’ post qualification experience in environmental law with a well-regarded practice

· Excellent experience of environmental law across a broad range of transactions (corporate, property, banking etc), projects and stand-alone advice (eg regulatory)

· Client delivery experience

· Evidence of being able to deliver to tight and demanding timescales on multiple projects

· Clear succinct writing style, ability to adapt to LN house style

· Excellent legal research, statutory interpretation and case analysis skills

· Excellent grasp of market practice in transactions

· Excellent organisational and planning skills

· Strong spoken communication skills

· Strong analytical skills

· Keen eye for detail

· Concern for high standards

· Self-motivated and a team player

Desirable experience:

· Some contentious experience, and/or knowledge of judicial review

· Energy projects and/or transactions experience

· General interest in new ‘publishing’ technologies

· Ability to transition into a commercial business, with multiple functions, competing demand and priorities, fast paced, dynamic, fluid

· Experience of sales and marketing support/initiatives
