Paralegal – Environment and Energy

An opportunity for a talented paralegal to join Lexis®PSL primarily supporting our Environment and Energy teams and where necessary, the other teams in the Built Environment group. The primary purpose of the role is to assist with the development and maintenance of core content (ie legal practical guidance materials), current awareness, and new online products for Lexis®PSL.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

· Legal research

· Drafting, maintaining and reviewing content for LexisPSL, including practice notes, checklists, current awareness, blog pieces

· Writing in XML and using the designated content management system (ECHo)

· Assist the team with ad hoc updating and search optimisation tasks, eg updating references to new legislation or cases in the product

· Identifying related LexisNexis content in the relevant practice areas and linking them together

· Monitoring and identifying current awareness and hot topics in the practice area for keeping up-to-date, writing current awareness and posting in social media feeds, eg twitter/blogs

· Tracking changes and trends in the legal market for the relevant practice areas

· Maintaining legal tracker tools, including cases, legislation, and consultation trackers

· Liaising with the current awareness team, court reporters, PSL editors, commissioning team, journals, looseleafs, webinars and other practice area contacts across LN

· Developing legal knowledge and expertise in the relevant practice area

· Networking at practice area seminars and events, and assisting sales and marketing teams when required

· Collaborating with the PSL team at large by supporting best practice development, sharing expertise and identifying potential business/product opportunities

· Liaising with internal partners including editorial and content development teams, and external partners including authors and members of our consultant editorial boards

Experience and skills required

Specialist Knowledge / Skills Required:

· Degree in law from England and Wales essential, although LPC/BPTC qualification or equivalent desirable.

· Ability to undertake legal research and communicate findings clearly

· Previous experience within a paralegal role with writing and editorial experience preferred

· Excellent command of written English and general common sense

· Ability to work alone as well as in a team, prioritising work and being creative

· Strong attention to detail and technology skills, and flexibility required

· Ability to deal with stakeholders at every level, including contributors, lawyers and sales managers
