The Financial Stability Board established the TCFD to develop recommendations for more effective climate-related disclosures that could promote more informed investment, credit, and insurance underwriting decisions and, in turn, enable stakeholders to understand better the concentrations of carbon-related assets in the financial sector and the financial system’s exposure to climate-related risks.
Our two speakers, Sarah Winne from the Strategic Sustainability team at Ramboll and Nina Pindham Barrister at No 5 chambers, will be explaining the implications for UK business and the role that the Task Force has in addressing climate change.
Biographies
Sarah Winne – Lead Consultant in Climate Risk and Resilience
Sarah is a Lead Consultant at Ramboll with over 18 years’ professional experience in the climate sector, focusing on climate change risk and resilience. Sarah is currently working with clients to help them align their reporting on climate risks with the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). This has included supporting clients to conduct scenario analysis in line with the TCFD and assess the physical and transition risks of climate change in order to better understand the implications of climate change on businesses and infrastructure. Through her work, Sarah has gained an understanding of the challenges posed by climate change to countries and businesses around the world.
Nina Pindham - Barrister at No5 Chambers
Nina Pindham is a specialist planning and environmental law barrister at No5 Barristers Chambers and Vice Chair of UKELA. She advises a wide range of clients including the national government, local authorities, water companies and developers. She is ranked as a leading junior in the directories for both Planning and Environmental Law. She has long been involved in the development of climate-related policy under binding obligations, at the international level having been a delegate to the UNFCCC Conference in Copenhagen and, most recently, attending COP26 in Glasgow, and at the local level through advising local authorities on the implementation of climate-related legal duties. She is presently involved in a case in the Court of Appeal concerning the extent of the private sector’s obligation to analyse the implications of their activities on climate change.
