An independent report whose key recommendation is for measures to make legal action affordable in environmental cases is being launched on Friday May 9th.

Hon. Mr Justice Sullivan, the chair of the Working Group on Access to Justice in Environmental Matters will be speaking on the main recommendations at a seminar at Kings College, Strand, London, starting at 2pm.
The report considered cases, such as the "Ghosts Ships" case where Friends of the Earth faced a £100,000 bill for a one day hearing; and another where a local resident faced with a waste dump on the doorstep faced a £50,000 legal bill.
The seminar chairs are Lord Justice Carnwath and Professor Sir Francis Jacobs.
Other members of the Panel will be speaking about issues including the right to appear in court and costs across Europe.
Members of the press are very welcome to attend.
