UKELA – the UK Environmental Law Association – is delighted to announce the appointment of Anne Johnstone as Chair Elect. This means that Anne will assume the role of UKELA Chair with effect from July 2017, taking over from current Chair, Stephen Sykes.

Previously one of UKELA’s Vice Chairs for the past two years, Anne is a Partner at Malcolm Hollis LLP. Anne has over sixteen years’ experience in environmental consultancy, having previously held posts at Ramboll Environ and Atkins. As Head of Malcolm Hollis’ Environmental practice in the UK, Ireland and Europe, Anne specialises in environmental due diligence, risk assessment and permitting.

Commenting on her appointment, Anne said “I hope to bring my consultancy experience and network to bear in broadening UKELA’s appeal.” She went on to say “I look forward to building on the great work of current Chair, Stephen Sykes, picking up in particular on UKELA’s work on Brexit as the implications of the Great Repeal Bill for our environmental laws and standards become clearer.”

"I am delighted that my successor will be a woman.” commented Stephen Sykes. “Anne has done a great job as a Vice Chair and I am sure she will be a terrific Chair too".
