UKELA Welcomes New Patrons

The UK Environmental Law Association (UKELA) welcomes new patrons: Baroness Young of Old Scone; Professor Francis Jacobs and Professor Richard Macrory at its 20th Anniversary Conference.
The UK Environmental Law Association (UKELA1) has welcomed three new patrons in addition to the President, Lord Justice Carnwath. Sir Francis Jacobs QC, Baroness Young of Old Scone, and Professor Richard Macrory have agreed to support UKELA as patrons.
Sir Francis is a former UK Advocate General in the Court of Justice of the European Communities. He was Professor of European Law, University of London, and Director of the Centre of European Law, King's College, London.
Barbara Young was the chief executive of the RSPB, chair of English Nature and now is the chief executive of the Environment Agency.
Richard Macrory is barrister and director of the Centre for Law and the Environment at University College, London where he is professor of environmental law. Richard was the first chairman of UKELA, and has been a member of the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution, and a board member of the Environment Agency.
The Past Presidents of UKELA – Lord Nathan and Rt Hon Lord Slynn of Hadley – are also Patrons and have the formal title of President Emeritus.
1. UKELA is the UK charity which aims to make the law work for a better environment and to improve understanding and awareness of environmental law. UKELA’s members are involved in the practice, study or formulation of Environmental Law in the UK and the European Union.
