The Future for Environmental Law: invitation
May 16, 2013
As the UK Environmental Law Association celebrates 25 years, it asks “what the future is for Environmental Law?” and invites members of the press to join its discussions in Cambridge July 12-14.
Key questions that will be addressed include:
· What the future holds for commercial environmental law – are environmental lawyers all energy lawyers now?
· With environmental pressures increasing, both at home and internationally, and having a direct effect on quality of life on the planet, how can legislation and regulation deliver what is needed?
· Is the system fit for purpose or creaking at the seams?
International speakers include Prof. Ludwig Kramer; Prof Jonas Ebbesson, Chair of the Aarhus Compliance Committee; Sibylle Grohs, Compliance Promotion, Governance & Legal Issues, DG Environment, European Commission (on the role of the European Commission in influencing UK environmental law) and Jeffrey Gracer, Principal, Sive Paget & Riesel; Chair of the New York Bar Environmental Law Committee.
· There will also be a discussion by some of the top UK Environmental lawyers on future trends in Environmental Law practice; will the pure environmental lawyer exist in future; and how can environmental lawyers be relevant to their corporate and finance partners?
Members of the press are welcome to attend the plenary sessions free of charge but places must be booked. You can view the detailed programme here:
