UKELA Addresses Wales Policy Forum
Mar 27, 2014
Dr. Haydn Davies, Co‐convenor of UKELA’s Wales Working Party addresses policy makers from all sectors today at the Wales Policy Forum’s keynote seminar on sustainability.
Co-chaired by Welsh Government’s Head of People and Environment, Gretel Leeb and Deputy Director Waste and Resource Efficiency, Jasper Roberts, the Forum is examining policy measures designed to support Wales’ transition to a sustainable, low carbon economy.
In the plenary session on Wales’ Future Generations Bill, Dr. Davies is joined on the panel by organisations including the Welsh Local Government Association, WWF Cymru and the Third Sector Alliance to offer a range of perspectives on this nationally and internationally significant legislation.
“UKELA wants to emphasise the importance of achieving integration, coherence and transparency between Wales’ emerging legislation to underpin the low carbon transition” Dr. Davies’ remarked. “The priority accorded to sustainability in the three Bills in development on Future Generations, the Environment and Planning is to be welcomed. Their interactions must be carefully thought through to ensure they achieve environmental outcomes effectively and without burden.”
