UKELA’s Annual Conference 2014 - Energy and Environment in Edinburgh

Jun 20, 2014

Further information
Linda Farrow

Over 200 environmental lawyers, policy makers and specialists gather in Edinburgh this weekend for the UK Environmental Law Association’s annual conference.

Members and non-members alike will share their knowledge on the interaction between energy and the environment in a series of plenary sessions and focused working groups.

Keynote speaker, Euan McVicar, General Counsel of the Green Investment Bank, will address the challenges and opportunities of funding the transition to a lower carbon economy.

International perspectives are on the agenda too, with Gene Smary, representing the American Bar Association, giving delegates a US perspective on fracking.

“UKELA is unique in providing a platform for dialogue between all sectors interested in policy, science and the law as it affects the environment” commented UKELA Chair, Richard Kimblin, as he prepared to open the conference.

UKELA Executive Director, Linda Farrow, thanked UKELA’s main sponsors 39 Essex Street, Exponent, Landmark Chambers and Thomson Reuters for their financial contribution. “The sponsorship raised by this event ensures a sound future for our work both in supporting our current members’ professional development, and in growing the next generation of environmental specialists.”
