UKELA Partners on the Polar Environment

Jul 31, 2014

Further information
Linda Farrow

UKELA was delighted to partner with the Government Legal Service (GLS) and the British Institute of International and Comparative Law (BIICL) on a seminar on the polar environment, held at DEFRA's offices in London recently.

More than 60 delegates heard from a panel of specialists from the Polar Regions Department of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, BIICL's Public International Law team and the British Antarctic Survey, who spoke on policy, legal and scientific developments affecting the management of our precious Arctic and Antarctic environments. The event finished with a fascinating "Q&A" session and post-event networking.

"This was a rare opportunity to learn from leading experts about the legal and policy instruments - and the underpinning science - that need to work hand in hand to protect these unique places" commented UKELA's Executive Director, Linda Farrow. "We hope to partner with GLS and BIICL on future events to keep our members at the centre of the environmental debate."
