Recent Events

Weightmans kindly hosted a joint event with the Society of Legal Scholars on Air Quality Challenges; Governance and Good Health in March 2019.

We were also pleased to partner with the Society of Legal Scholars in 2018 on a Fracking conference on 1st November. Kindly hosted by Weightmans in central Manchester, our audience was treated to 4 excellent presentations by Elen Stokes, Cardiff University; Dr John Pearson, Manchester University, Alan Evans, Kings Chambers and Estelle Dehon, Cornerstone Barristers.

 

About our Group

Centred in Manchester, the North West region is a vibrant, busy part of the UK. We cover both densely populated areas such as Merseyside and Greater Manchester and very rural areas such as Cumbria, as well as a large stretch of the English coast. We look to address the diverse needs of our members by hosting a wide range of events on different topics, throughout the year. If you have ideas for future events, do please get in touch.

Helen Mitcheson 

Helen is an environmental and planning solicitor at Trowers & Hamlins. Prior to becoming a solicitor Helen worked as an environmental consultant and environmental scientist. She has experience advising clients on a range of environmental issues including environmental impact assessments for onshore and offshore developments in many jurisdictions, onshore and offshore permitting requirements, transactional support and regulatory obligations. She also has a particular interest in the relationship between science and law.

Charlotte Scrivens 

Charlotte is an environmental lawyer at Addleshaw Goddard LLP, based in their Manchester office. She advises on all aspects of environmental compliance, risks and liabilities and assists her colleagues in advising on complex regulatory regimes such as REACH, environmental permitting, waste classifications, and contaminated land. Charlotte also advises and represent a number of clients under regulatory investigation and advise on enforcement options including voluntary undertakings and civil sanctions.
