Introduction to Wildlife Law Course 2021

Bookings now open for our popular course

The annual course held under the auspices of the UK Environmental Law Association’s (UKELA) will this year be hosted online from the 7th – 12th November. It will be spread over 5 half day sessions, giving participants plenty of opportunities for breaks away from the screen and for individual study. A short pre-course introductory and ‘getting to know you’ session will also be held on the evening of the 7th.

The course tutors of Andrew Baker, Director, Baker Consultants Ltd., Richard Barlow, Partner at Browne Jacobson Solicitors, Bernie Fleming, Fleming Ecology consultancy, Wyn Jones, retired Head of Habitats Advice, Joint Nature Conservation Committee, Carl May-Smith, Barrister at Browne Jacobson Solicitors, and Dr Eunice Pinn who works for Seafish, a public body supporting the seafood industry, have a wealth of experience of wildlife law.

The course will be hosted on UKELA’s zoom platform, which has been used very successfully for this year’s UKELA annual conference, several webinars and meetings. We are very experienced in using this technology, so you can be assured of a smooth and welcoming environment in which to learn and participate.

The course is designed to introduce the wildlife law framework in England and Wales focusing upon species and Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRAs) legislation and providing participants with the chance to look at relevant case studies.

The cost of the course is £200 per person  and is strictly limited to 25 participants. We are also offering UKELA membership for 2022 included in the price for non members who register. This is up to the value of £102 to cover individual membership or be used against the price of any not for profit or local authority corporate membership. Details will be sent out along with a code once bookings have been taken. Free membership is offered at the sole discretion of UKELA.

Due to the popularity of this course we will be limiting the number of delegates able to register from a single organisation to five. This is to ensure a diverse and inclusive mix of participants and to give those who were not successful in securing a space last year a chance this time round. If you have any questions please contact info@ukela.org
