Our speakers:

• Stephen Tromans KC – 39 Essex Chambers
  Stephen continues to be a pre-eminent name in environmental and energy law. He has deep experience and knowledge of most aspects of environmental law, gained over almost 40 years in the field, and has been involved in some of the leading cases in areas such as waste, water rights, nuisance and nuclear law. His practice particularly focuses on nuclear law, renewable energy, environmental assessment, biodiversity and habitats, and major infrastructure projects. His practice is complemented by his authorship of three leading textbooks and his membership of the Committee on Radioactive Waste Management, which advises the UK government on the management of higher activity wastes.
  
  
• Rebecca Cattermole – 39 Essex Chambers
  Rebecca Cattermole is recognised as a leading junior in agricultural and property work.  She has been ranked in Legal 500 Agriculture (Tier 1) for a number of years, most recently described as a “A junior with a scholarly, considered and accurate approach”. As well as the full range of landlord and tenant matters, Rebecca’s practice covers restrictive and freehold covenants, easements, nuisance and complex issues surrounding the recovery of agricultural land. 
  
  
• Jon Darby – 39 Essex Chambers
  Jon is ranked as a leading junior for planning law, environmental law and local government law (Chambers and The Legal 500). Frequently instructed as both sole and junior counsel, Jon advises a wide range of clients on all aspects of the planning process, including planning enforcement, planning appeals, development plan examinations, rights of way inquiries, injunctions, and criminal prosecutions under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.  Jon also provides advice and representation in nuisance claims (public and private), including advising in relation to the interaction between the nuisance and planning regimes, for example, ongoing representation of Strongroom Studios and Music Room London in relation to their objections to adjacent development proposals on noise and vibration grounds. Jon also advises and appears in relation to boundary disputes and Land Registration Tribunal matters. Jon’s wider public law practice provides him with a particular expertise in statutory challenges and applications for judicial review.
  
  

• Dr Robin Price, Director of Quality and Environment, Anglian Water, CSci FIWater
  Robin has a degree in Biological Sciences and a PhD in advanced water treatment from the University of Birmingham.  Robin spent over 20 years in scientific roles at Anglian Water, including eight years as Head of Water Quality, before, in 2018, becoming Managing Director of Water Resources East (WRE). the organisation co-creating a multi-sector regional water resources plan for Eastern England with over 250 stakeholders.  In January 2022, Robin returned to Anglian Water as Director of Quality and Environment, providing leadership of the company quality, scientific and environmental strategy and delivery, together with public affairs and regional engagement.  A Chartered Scientist, Robin is also a Fellow of the Institute of Water (IoW) and held the role of Vice President Science on the IoW Board for nine years until 2022.  He is an active supporter of the charity WaterAid, and is currently the strategic water resources lead within the Anglian Water Beacon Project team working in south east Nepal.
